Education in Jamaica is better today than years before it is because more people are focused on having a better education to get better jobs. The way Jamaica assess students is through technical sound system of measurements and assessments for the primary and secondary levels where they learn the most.
· Primary –grade 1 for 6 years old
· Secondary- 6 for 12-13 years old
During the first 6 years children are assessed based on the following:
· Grade 1 Readiness Test
· Grade 3 Assessment Test in Mathematics and Language Arts
· Grade 4 Literacy Test
· Grade 6 Achievement Test in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Writing
When a child is in the 6th grade they take an Achievement Test that get them ready for High School and it is called the GSAT. Also note during testing there can be over 500 children at a time taking test I think that is a big difference from how the United States do it just think of how they can be distracted during the testing time but they are conditioned and know this is the way they test.
I also found that have different tools they utilize for Special Education such as different provision for different levels of functioning deviate from the norm such as special programs and services to help in facilitate optimum learning.
